LOTR: ROTK
WOW! I mean, WOW! I have to say that LOTR is one of the best trilogies ever, if not the best… others I consider great are Star Wars 4-6, and The Godfather. The whole experience since The Fellowship of the Ring has been one awesome journey. I’m still at a loss of words because ROTK simply blew me away. Peter Jackson did such a great job of portraying J.J. Tolkien’s world that I felt like I was there, and now being back in my world feels weird.
But some random thoughts while watching the movie… it sure has to suck to be the guards for those “beacons of light.” You have to sit at the top of the mountains waiting for a signal that comes almost never? I’m surprised they don’t freeze to death or something. And even if the guards rotate once in a while, imagine the commute… 10-36,000 miles one way? Haha. Also, it’s cool how they filmed the hobbits to be half the size of a human when the actors weren’t really that small. I know they used doubles at times, but I’m guessing for the other times they just filmed the hobbits from a different distance, and just transposed them into the necessary scenes. I’ll probably have to buy the DVDs and watch all the bonus material to find out, which I plan on doing once it comes out. =)
And on a side note, I saw the hottest woman today… she was like a mix of Jada Pinkett Smith and Alicia Keys, but 1000 times hotter. Yeah, side note.

God’s Snow Machine
So I posted a few days ago complaining about how there was no snow and that I was planning on making my own. Well, God did better, and blasted my house with 20 INCHES of SNOW! Now after I get my new boots and boards, maybe I can have some fun in the backyard. :)

Let’s Make Snow!
Here’s the background story: I love snow. Okay, now that you’re caught up, here were the throughts running through my mind today:
1. If you live in the NYC area, you’ll realize that we don’t have snow.
2. This winter, I want to go to terrain parks to practice doing tricks on skiboards.
3. My backyard slopes downward from my frontyard. Vertical displacement is about 10 feet (decent slope).
So, I put all these thoughts together, and came up with the idea to make my own terrain park in my backyard! First, I searched ebay to see if anyone was auctioning a snow gun. Unfortunately, I came up empty handed. The next destination was google. There, I found instructions on how to make my own snow gun! Basically, you can make your own snow with water and an air compressor. But who in the galaxy has an air compressor just lying around? Fortunately, my garage is like a Home Depot. My dad buys an endless number of tools and bought an air compressor this year so he could vent the sprinkler system himself (you have to do this to prevent leftover water from freezing and cracking the pipes of your system). Okay, so the next obstacle is the tempature. If you whip out your wet bulb chart, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

As you can see, the ideal temperature for homemade snow guns is at most 28.4F. It might take a while for it to get that cold… so in the meantime, I’ll have to wait inside my house, possibly walking around with my ski boots and ski googles on. ;)
