The Walk
After I found out my finals were officially postponed until January because of the transit strike, I decided to take a walk downtown to see what the city was like with 7 million above ground during the evening rush hour. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed. The city looked really normal except for a lot more tour buses, but then again, I only made it down to 59th street before I decided to turn back home. Going to Penn station would’ve been a real treat, but my legs didn’t really want to walk those extra 30 blocks each way.
I saw a lot of this:

Lincoln Center is really nice:

When I got to 59th, I got tired, so took a little break in the Time Warner building. The Samsung store has a Xbox360 with Madden loaded! They also have a lot of sofas you can lounge in while watching TV on their beautiful LCD’s. I might visit this store more often. So the trip back up…
102nd - I’m starting to get a little tired.
116th - Bubble tea? I remember it costing $3.09 and didn’t want to carry around 90 cents of change in my pocket so I walk on.
120th - No way I’m walking to Chinatown and back.
Home - 3 hrs later. Good exercise.
[edit]: On my school’s website it says:
Employees are expected to come to work. Non-essential employees must take leave in the event that they are unable to make it in. Essential employees have been notified of their status by their supervisor.
Non-essential employee? There is such a thing? Then why hire them in the first place?

NOOOOOOOOO
I watched NY1 news all night because I couldn’t fall asleep, and at 3am, they finally made an official announcement. Because of the strike, my finals are rescheduled for JANUARY. Well, it could be a good thing, but I can ace these tests now, so this rescheduling is not welcome. So what will I do instead of studying? I would really like to get a hair cut, but my barber is in Chinatown. And even if I did walk down there, there’s a chance he doesn’t make it to work. Another option is King Kong, but that will be a trek too. But since I have nothing to do, and no transportation to take me anywhere, I might just be crazy enough to walk around the city to see what it’s like. Maybe I’ll see King Kong AND get my hair cut. We’ll see… it’ll be an interesting day. But first, some sleep.

A+
I just finished writing a most awesome paper, so I decided to write a big A+ at the end of it to save my professor the time of having to write it herself. I’m sure she will appreciate it.

Hair
I think the hair on the left side of my head grows faster than the hair on the right side of my head…

Eye Contact
People usually like to avoid eye contact, and it can look ridiculous when they do.
Elevators
Why do people always stare at the floor numbers? What’s after 1? Oh, 2. After 2? Oh 3. After 3, oooh, 3M. I always forget about that mezzanine floor.
Subways
In advertising, subway ads are money well spent. Even if I don’t want to learn English, I’ll have that whole ad memorized by the time I get off the subway, except if all the ads are about impotence, then I’ll stare at the people in the subway and make them feel awkward.
And speaking of subways, what’s up with the people who always stand by the door? When the door opens, they just step aside and let people exit and enter. It’s like they are gatekeepers. It would be funny if they randomly put out their hand and said, sorry, you may not pass. Haha.
